Method

Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into quarters to create triangular chips.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add a batch of the tortilla triangles to the hot oil. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Remove the chips from the oil using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.

Salsa

  1. 5

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño (removing seeds for less heat if desired) into small pieces.

  2. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and roughly chopped cilantro.

  3. 7

    Season the Salsa

Squeeze the juice of the lime over the mixture and add salt. Mix well to combine all flavors.

  4. 8

    Chill and Serve

Let the salsa sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve with the freshly made chips.
