Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Select a highball or Hurricane glass. Fill the glass about two-thirds with crushed ice (approximately 1 cup) leaving room for the liquid and a little headspace for garnish.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, add 2 oz dark rum, 1 oz cream of coconut, 4 oz pineapple juice, and 1 oz orange juice. Add a small handful of crushed ice (or several large cubes) to chill while mixing.

3

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is chilled and well mixed, or stir briskly for 10 seconds if using a mixing glass.

4

Strain and serve

Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over the crushed ice. If you prefer a slushier texture, pour everything (including shaker ice) into the glass.

5

Add nutmeg

Grate fresh nutmeg over the top of the drink to taste (about a light dusting). Reserve a little extra for the garnish if desired.

Garnish

6

Garnish the drink with a pineapple wedge and an orange slice on the rim. Optionally, float a thin pineapple frond or cherry for color. Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy.
