Dry ingredients

Wet ingredients

Method

Preheat and prep

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.

Prepare dry ingredients

  1. 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.

Cream butter and sugars

  1. 3

In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar on medium-high speed until light and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add eggs and vanilla

  1. 4

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.

Combine wet and dry

  1. 5

Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed just until combined.

Fold in chocolate chips

  1. 6

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Chill dough (optional)

  1. 7

If time allows, cover the dough and chill for 30 minutes to help cookies hold shape during baking.

Bake

  1. 8

Scoop generous tablespoons of dough (or use a small cookie scoop) onto the prepared sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.

  2. 9

Bake for 9-11 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Centers may look slightly soft.

  3. 10

Let cookies cool on the sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
