Method
Sauce Preparation
- 1
Make the Pomodoro Sauce
In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add canned tomatoes (with juices), salt, and sugar. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add fresh basil leaves at the end of cooking.
Pizza Assembly
- 2
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 3
Prepare the Dough
On a floured surface, stretch or roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness.
- 4
Assemble Pizza
Spread a layer of the prepared pomodoro sauce over the pizza dough. Evenly distribute the sliced mozzarella and halved bocconcini on top.
- 5
Bake Pizza
Transfer the pizza to the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden.
- 6
Finish and Serve
Remove pizza from the oven. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with cracked black pepper. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.
