Beef Patties

Method

GladiatorSauce©

  1. 1

    Make the sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, pickle relish, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, hot sauce (if using), salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning. Cover and refrigerate while preparing the rest (can be made up to 3 days ahead).

Beef Patties

  1. 2

    Form

Divide the ground beef into two equal portions (about 8 oz each). Gently form each portion into a round patty about 4 inches in diameter and roughly 3/4 inch thick. Make a shallow dimple in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent doming while cooking. Handle meat loosely to avoid compacting.

  2. 3

    Season

Season both sides of each patty with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Lightly brush or rub 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce onto each patty's top side before cooking for added savory flavor.

  3. 4

    Cook

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add 1 teaspoon vegetable oil. When oil is shimmering and surface is hot, place patties on the pan (dimple side up). Cook without pressing: 3 to 4 minutes on the first side for medium-rare to medium depending on thickness. Flip once and cook another 3 to 4 minutes for medium doneness (internal temperature ~140–145°F / 60–63°C). Cook longer if you prefer well done. If using cheese (optional), add a slice in the last minute and cover to melt.

  4. 5

    Rest

Transfer cooked patties to a plate and let rest 3 minutes. This helps redistribute juices.

Buns & Assembly

  1. 6

    Toast Buns

While patties rest or in a separate pan, spread softened butter on cut sides of the buns. Toast cut sides on the skillet or griddle over medium heat until golden brown, about 1–2 minutes.

  2. 7

    Assemble

Place bottom bun on a plate. Spread about 1 tablespoon GladiatorSauce© on the bottom bun. Add lettuce leaf, then place the rested beef patty on top. Top the patty with 2–3 tomato slices, a few red onion rings, and 3 pickle slices. Spread another 1 tablespoon of GladiatorSauce© on the top bun and place it over the assembled burger. Press gently to combine.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately with your choice of side (fries, chips, or a salad). Provide extra GladiatorSauce© for dipping or topping.
