Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form the Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Place the formed meatballs on a plate.

Brown the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Sauce
Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 15-20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Combine with Sauce
Once the meatballs and sauce are ready, add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss gently to coat the noodles with the sauce.

Serve the spaghetti and meatballs hot, garnished with additional chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
