Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Place the formed meatballs on a plate.

  3. 3

    Brown the Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the Aromatics

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Cook the Sauce

Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 15-20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

Spaghetti

  1. 7

    Cook the Spaghetti

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 8

    Combine with Sauce

Once the meatballs and sauce are ready, add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss gently to coat the noodles with the sauce.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve the Dish

Serve the spaghetti and meatballs hot, garnished with additional chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
