Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until it forms a dough.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Pizza Assembly
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 6
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and place it on a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle.
- 7
Add Sauce and Cheese
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a baking sheet or pizza peel. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce, followed by the Parmesan cheese.
- 8
Add Toppings
Drizzle olive oil over the top, and add fresh basil leaves and red pepper flakes to taste.
- 9
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza to the hot oven (or onto the pizza stone) and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 10
Slice and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice into 6 pieces and serve hot.
