Tomato Sauce

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls, approximately 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the formed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until cooked through and browned.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Combine the Sauce Ingredients

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, sugar, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Allow the sauce to simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

  4. 7

    Add the Meatballs

Once the meatballs are done baking, add them to the simmering tomato sauce. Let them cook together for an additional 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
