Method
For the Macaroni Cheese Balls
- 1
Cook the Macaroni
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Mix the Cheese Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, beaten egg, salt, black pepper, and Cajun seasoning. Mix until well combined.
- 3
Form the Balls
Using your hands, take small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 4
Prepare for Frying
Once all the balls are formed, place the breadcrumbs in a shallow dish. Roll each macaroni cheese ball in the breadcrumbs until evenly coated.
- 5
Fry the Balls
In a deep saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the macaroni cheese balls in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
For the Cajun Sauce
- 6
Combine Sauce Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, and Cajun seasoning. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
- 7
Serve
Serve the crispy macaroni cheese balls hot with the Cajun sauce on the side for dipping.
