Method

Meat Sauce

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, combine ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking up the meat with a spoon.

  2. 2

    Add Aromatics

Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 3

    Simmer the Sauce

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cheese Mixture

  1. 4

    Prepare Cheese Mixture

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan, chopped parsley, and salt. Mix until well incorporated.

Lasagna Assembly

  1. 5

    Cook the Noodles

Boil lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 6

    Layer the Lasagna

In a large baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 sheets of lasagna noodles over the meat sauce. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce and a layer of mozzarella. Repeat the layers (noodles, cheese mixture, meat sauce, mozzarella) ending with mozzarella on top.

  3. 7

    Bake

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.

  4. 8

    Rest and Serve

Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
