Method

Beef Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the shaved sirloin beef. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through, stirring occasionally.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 2

    Sauté the Onions and Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Add the sliced mushrooms and continue cooking for another 5 minutes until they are tender and browned.

Au Jus Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Au Jus

In a small saucepan, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and let cook for about 10 minutes to combine the flavors.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 4

    Build the Sandwich

Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise. Layer the cooked beef, sautéed onions, and mushrooms on the bottom half of each roll. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

  2. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Watch closely to prevent burning.

Serve

  1. 6

    Serve with Au Jus

Serve the French Dip sandwiches hot with a small bowl of au jus on the side for dipping.
