Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Fettuccini
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccini pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Meat Sauce Preparation
- 2
Sauté the Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
- 3
Brown the Beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
- 4
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 5
Combine with Pasta
Once the sauce has thickened, combine it with the cooked fettuccini pasta in the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- 6
Serve and Garnish
Serve the fettuccini meat sauce hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
