Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Fettuccini
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccini pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the fettuccini in a colander. Set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 3
Melt the Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until it is fully melted and bubbly.
- 4
- 5
Add Heavy Cream
Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and allow it to cook for about 2-3 minutes.
- 6
Incorporate Parmesan Cheese
Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese to the skillet, stirring continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
- 7
Season the Sauce
Add salt and black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, you can add reserved pasta water, a little at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
Combine and Serve
- 8
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained fettuccini to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- 9
Garnish and Serve
Transfer the fettuccini Alfredo to serving plates, garnish with chopped fresh parsley, and serve immediately.
