Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prep the Ingredients

Start by chopping the onion, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Mince the garlic and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Sausage

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Remove the sausage from its casing and add to the skillet. Cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it into smaller pieces with a spatula. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Chicken

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  4. 4

    Cook the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the chopped onion, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Sauté for about 5 minutes, until they are softened. Add the minced garlic and dried oregano, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  5. 5

    Combine With Tomato Sauce

Return the sausage and chicken to the skillet. Pour in the tomato sauce, stirring to combine all ingredients. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  6. 6

    Finish and Serve

Before serving, stir in the fresh basil. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot with pasta, rice, or crusty bread.
