Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, granulated sugar, and instant yeast. Stir until thoroughly mixed.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, mix together the warm water and olive oil. Ensure the temperature of the water is around 110°F (43°C) to activate the yeast.

Dough Formation

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour the wet mixture into it. Stir with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.

  2. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Proofing

  1. 5

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough into a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

After the first rise, punch down the dough to release the air. Shape it into a loaf by flattening it and rolling it tightly.

Baking

  1. 7

    Second Rise

Place the shaped loaf into a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes, or until it has risen above the rim of the pan.

  2. 8

    Preheat Oven

While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  3. 9

    Bake the Loaf

Once the loaf has risen, bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Cooling

  1. 10

    Cool the Bread

Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
