Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Coffee
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee. Set aside to cool. If desired, mix in coffee liqueur.
- 2
Whisk Egg Yolks
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks and 1 cup of sugar until pale and creamy.
- 3
Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until well combined and smooth.
- 4
Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until just combined, ensuring not to deflate the cream.
Assembly
- 6
Soak the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso coffee, allowing them to soak for no more than 2 seconds per side to prevent sogginess.
- 7
Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- 8
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.
