Alfredo Sauce
Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.
- 2
Cook the Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of the pasta water, then drain the fettuccine in a colander.
Making the Alfredo Sauce
- 4
Melt the Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until it is completely liquid.
- 5
Add Garlic and Cream
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Then, add the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
- 6
Incorporate Parmesan Cheese
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
- 7
Season the Sauce
Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.
Combining and Serving
- 8
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained fettuccine to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly.
- 9
Garnish and Serve
Transfer the fettuccine Alfredo to serving plates, sprinkle with chopped parsley for garnish, and serve immediately.
