Pasta

Meatballs

Method

Pasta

  1. 1

    Cook the Spaghetti

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Meatballs

  1. 2

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.

  2. 3

    Form the Meatballs

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.

  3. 4

    Cook the Meatballs

In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 5

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add more olive oil if needed. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Sauce

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, oregano, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes.

  3. 7

    Combine Meatballs with Sauce

Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for another 10 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Serve the Dish

On a plate, serve a portion of spaghetti topped with the meatballs and marinara sauce. Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
