Method

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Stuff with Mozzarella

Take a small amount of the meat mixture and flatten it in your hand. Place a cube of mozzarella in the center and mold the meat around it to form a ball. Repeat until all the mixture is used.

  4. 4

    Bake Meatballs

Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Sauté Onion and Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are done baking, add them to the marinara sauce. Allow them to simmer in the sauce for an additional 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Serving

  1. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with fresh chopped basil. Enjoy with pasta, on a sub roll, or on their own!
