Method
For the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
Prepare the Cheese
Cut the mozzarella cheese into six equal sticks, each about 3 inches long.
- 2
Set Up the Breading Stations
In three separate bowls, place the flour, beaten eggs, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Cheese Sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick first in the flour, then in the egg, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure each stick is well-coated.
- 4
Chill the Sticks
Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while frying.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
For the Marinara Sauce
- 7
- 8
Add Tomatoes and Season
Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir to combine.
- 9
Simmer the Sauce
