Method
Preparing the Au Jus
- 1
Make the Au Jus
In a medium saucepan, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Allow to simmer for about 10 minutes to let the flavors meld.
Assembling the Sandwiches
- 2
Prepare the Sandwiches
While the au jus is simmering, slice the Italian hoagie rolls open lengthwise. Place a portion of the thinly sliced roast beef inside each roll, ensuring it is well-packed.
- 3
Add Au Jus
Using a ladle, dip each sandwich into the au jus to soak the beef slightly. This will help keep the meat moist and flavorful.
- 4
Add Toppings
Top each sandwich with a generous spoonful of spicy giardiniera followed by shredded mozzarella cheese.
Toasting the Sandwiches
- 5
Toast the Sandwiches
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the assembled sandwiches on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving
- 6
Serve
Remove the sandwiches from the oven, let them cool slightly, and serve with the remaining au jus for dipping.
