Pizza Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- 3
Knead
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembling the Pizza
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 6
Prepare Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- 7
- 8
Add Toppings
Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the dough, followed by the minced garlic, sliced roma tomatoes, and grated parmesan cheese. Drizzle olive oil on top and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 9
Bake
Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the heated pizza stone) and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 10
Garnish
Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle with fresh chopped basil before slicing.
