Preparation

Cake Base

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3. Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream the unsalted butter until smooth, then gradually add the sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

4. Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

5. Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

6. Bake the Cakes

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7. Cool the Cakes

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.

Frosting

8. Prepare the Frosting

In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition.

9. Adjust Consistency

Add the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Beat until the frosting is fluffy and at your desired consistency.

Decoration

10. Assemble the Cake

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

11. Decorate the Cake

Arrange the fresh berries and mint leaves on top of the cake, and add edible flowers if desired for a beautiful presentation.
