Method
Dough & Base
- 1
Preheat and prepare surface
Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the middle rack before preheating. Lightly dust a pizza peel or baking sheet with the all-purpose flour (about 2 tbsp) to prevent sticking.
- 2
Shape the dough
On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll the pizza dough to a roughly 14–16 inch round. Aim for an even thickness with a slightly thicker rim for the crust. Transfer the stretched dough to the prepared pizza peel or baking sheet. Brush the outer 1/2 inch of the dough lightly with 1 tbsp olive oil to help brown the crust.
Sauce
- 3
Prepare sauce
In a small bowl combine 1 cup tomato pizza sauce, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes, 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp black pepper. Stir until evenly combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if desired.
- 4
Spread sauce
Using the back of a spoon, spread the sauce evenly over the stretched dough, leaving a 1/2–1 inch uncovered rim for the crust. Apply a thin, even layer to avoid making the crust soggy.
Cheese & Toppings
- 5
Layer cheese
Evenly distribute the 4 cups shredded mozzarella over the sauce. Make sure the cheese reaches close to the rim but not over it.
- 6
Add meats
Arrange the pepperoni slices (about 30 slices) evenly across the cheese. Scatter the cooked and crumbled Italian sausage (8 oz) evenly. Sprinkle the chopped, cooked bacon (6 slices) across the pizza so toppings are distributed uniformly.
- 7
Optional finishes
If using, sprinkle 2 tbsp grated Parmesan over the top for extra flavor.
- 8
Bake
Slide the prepared pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake at 500°F (260°C) for 8–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling and starting to brown in spots. Baking time varies with oven and stone; check at 8 minutes and continue until done.
- 9
Rest and garnish
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for 2–3 minutes. Sprinkle the chopped fresh basil or parsley (2 tbsp) over the pizza if desired. Slice into 8 large slices and serve hot.
