Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.

  4. 4

    Add Boiling Water

Stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin).

  5. 5

    Bake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 7

    Make the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Add cocoa powder and mix well. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk, mixing until smooth and spreadable. Stir in vanilla.

  2. 8

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, spread frosting between the layers and over the top and sides of the cake.
