Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar

Method

Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir until the butter is melted and the mixture comes to a boil.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add all-purpose flour. Stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

  4. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Churros

  1. 5

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe strips of dough (about 4-6 inches long) directly into the hot oil.

  2. 6

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros until they are golden brown, about 2-4 minutes per side. Remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Cinnamon Sugar

  1. 7

    Mix Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Mix well.

  2. 8

    Coat the Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Chocolate Sauce

  1. 9

    Prepare the Sauce

In a small saucepan over low heat, heat the heavy cream until just simmering. Remove from heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and vanilla extract.

  2. 10

    Mix Until Smooth

Let the mixture sit for a minute, then stir until the chocolate is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
