Cocktail
Chill the glass
Place a coupe or cocktail glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to ensure it's well chilled.
Measure and combine
In a mixing glass, add 2 oz Tanqueray gin, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and 0.25 oz maraschino liqueur. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.
Strain
Discard ice or water from the chilled serving glass. Using a Hawthorne or julep strainer, strain the cocktail from the mixing glass into the chilled coupe.
Garnish and serve
Express an orange or lemon twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down above the glass and giving it a sharp squeeze to release oils, then rub the peel on the glass rim and drop it in (or discard if you prefer). Optionally add a Luxardo or maraschino cherry on a pick. Serve immediately.
