1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure it is well chilled.

2

Measure ingredients

Measure 2 oz gin, 0.75 oz Green Chartreuse, 0.75 oz maraschino liqueur, and 0.75 oz freshly squeezed lime juice. Use a jigger for accuracy.

3

Combine and shake

Add the gin, Green Chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with ice (roughly 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes very cold and slightly frosted.

4

Prepare glass

If you chilled the glass with ice water, dump the ice water out. Optionally, rinse briefly with a small splash of lime juice or gin for extra aroma, then discard.

5

Double strain and serve

Using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or just a fine strainer if preferred), double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass to remove ice shards and small pulp particles for a clean texture.

6

Garnish

Express a lime twist over the drink to release oils, then drop it in or rest it on the rim. Alternatively, garnish with a single maraschino cherry. Serve immediately.

7

Tasting notes

The Martini Last Word is a crisp, herbaceous, and slightly sweet-sour cocktail: gin provides a dry backbone, Chartreuse brings complex herbal sweetness, maraschino adds a nutty cherry note, and lime brightens the balance.
