Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare cocktail

Add 2 oz reposado tequila, 0.5 oz blood orange liqueur (or triple sec), 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz agave syrup, 1 oz fresh blood orange juice, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with about 1 cup of ice.

2

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker becomes well chilled and slightly frosted. This chills and dilutes the cocktail to proper balance.

3

Strain

If you prefer the drink on the rocks: fill a double old-fashioned glass with fresh ice (about 1 cup). If you prefer it neat: chill a coupe or rocks glass and leave it without ice. Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer if you want a clearer texture from pulp and small ice shards.

Garnish & Serve

4

Optional rim

If rimming: rub a lime wedge around the glass rim, then dip the rim into coarse salt or Tajín (use about 1 tsp). This is optional but adds a savory contrast.

5

Garnish

Garnish with a blood orange or lime wheel on the rim or floated on top. Serve immediately.
