Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt.

Cook Pasta
Once the water is boiling, add 2 cups of pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain and Set Aside
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
Making the Sauce

Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Sauté Garlic
Add 2 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn.

Add Tomato Sauce and Spices
Pour in 1 cup of tomato sauce and add 1 tsp of dried basil, 1 tsp of dried oregano, 1 tsp of sugar, 1 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of black pepper. Stir well to combine.

Simmer
Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combining Pasta and Sauce

Mix Pasta with Sauce
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

Once mixed, serve the pasta hot on plates.
Garnishing

Sprinkle 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve immediately.
