Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat, ensuring it's hot before placing the patties on it.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patty

Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side until they develop a nice sear. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place the slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover to allow the cheese to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Bun

While the burger is cooking, lightly toast the artisan bun on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 7

    Add Toppings

Once the patty is cooked, place it on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard to your preference.

  3. 8

    Complete the Burger

Place the top half of the bun over the assembled toppings and patty. Press down gently.
