For each glass

Method

For each glass

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

If you want a salted rim, rub a lime wedge around the top edge of a tall glass. Dip the rim lightly into coarse salt so it clings — tap off any excess.

  2. 2

    Add ice

Fill the glass with about 1 cup of crushed ice, leaving room at the top so the soda won't overflow when poured.

  3. 3

    Add Sprite

Pour 1/2 cup (about 120 ml) of chilled Sprite over the crushed ice. The lighter soda first reduces foaming when adding Coke.

  4. 4

    Add Mexican Coke

Slowly pour one 355 ml glass bottle of chilled Mexican Coca‑Cola down the side of the glass so it layers and mixes gently with the Sprite. Stop pouring a little before full to allow space for the lime.

  5. 5

    Finish with lime

Squeeze the juice of half a lime into the glass (about 1/2 lime), then drop the squeezed wedge in. Stir gently once with a bar spoon to combine flavors without flattening the soda too much.

  6. 6

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and serve immediately with a straw. Enjoy cold.

For a pitcher (6 servings)

  1. 7

    Prepare pitcher

Chill a 2‑ to 3‑quart pitcher in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes if possible. Optionally, rub a few lime wedges around the rim and press into coarse salt if you plan to salt individual pours.

  2. 8

    Add ice

Add about 6 cups of crushed ice to the pitcher, filling roughly half to two‑thirds of the vessel so liquids can be poured without overflowing.

  3. 9

    Add Sprite

Pour 3 cups of chilled Sprite into the pitcher over the ice.

  4. 10

    Add Mexican Coke

Open and slowly pour six 355 ml bottles of chilled Mexican Coca‑Cola into the pitcher, stirring gently with a long spoon just enough to combine. Avoid vigorous stirring to preserve carbonation.

  5. 11

    Add lime juice

Squeeze the juice from 3 fresh limes into the pitcher, then drop the spent lime halves into the mixture for extra aroma.

  6. 12

    Serve

Pour into chilled, ice‑filled glasses. Garnish each glass with a lime wheel or wedge. If desired, salt the rim before pouring individual servings. Serve immediately for best carbonation.
