Steak

Butter Baste

Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and allow them to reach room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steaks

Rub both sides of each steak with olive oil. Generously season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large cast-iron skillet, heat over high heat for about 5 minutes until the pan is very hot.

  2. 4

    Sear the Steaks

Place the seasoned steaks in the hot skillet. Sear for 4-5 minutes without moving them to achieve a nice crust.

  3. 5

    Add Aromatics

After 5 minutes, flip the steaks. Add the fresh rosemary and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

Butter Basting

  1. 6

    Add Butter and Garlic

Reduce the heat to medium. Add the unsalted butter and garlic cloves to the skillet. As the butter melts, start basting the steaks by tilting the pan and spooning the melted butter over them.

  2. 7

    Continue Cooking

Add the fresh thyme and continue to baste the steaks for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness (135°F for medium-rare).

Resting and Serving

  1. 8

    Rest the Steaks

Remove the steaks from the skillet and place them on a cutting board. Tent loosely with foil and let them rest for 5-10 minutes.

  2. 9

    Serve

Slice the steaks against the grain and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
