Method

Preparation of Vegetables

  1. 1

    Chop Napa Cabbage

Remove any wilted outer leaves from the Napa cabbage. Cut the cabbage in half lengthwise, then slice it into thin strips. Measure out 4 cups of the shredded Napa cabbage and place it in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Grate Carrot

Peel the carrot and use a box grater to grate it into fine shreds. Add the grated carrot to the bowl with the Napa cabbage.

  3. 3

    Dice Cucumber

Wash the cucumber and cut it in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds if desired, then dice it into small pieces. Add the diced cucumber to the mixing bowl.

  4. 4

    Slice Red Onion

Peel the red onion and slice it thinly. If you prefer a milder flavor, soak the slices in cold water for 10 minutes, then drain. Add the sliced red onion to the vegetable mixture.

  5. 5

    Chop Tomato

Wash the tomato and chop it into small cubes. Remove the seeds if desired. Add the chopped tomato to the mixing bowl.

Making the Dressing

  1. 6

    Combine Dressing Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, black pepper, and celery seed. Whisk together until smooth and well combined.

  2. 7

    Mix Dressing with Vegetables

Pour the dressing over the chopped vegetables in the mixing bowl. Toss everything together until all the vegetables are evenly coated with the dressing.

Chill and Serve

  1. 8

    Chill the Slaw

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate the slaw for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together.

  2. 9

    Serve

After chilling, give the slaw a good toss and serve it in individual bowls or as a side dish. Enjoy your creamy Napa cabbage slaw!
