Method

Prep the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned and then flip. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cover with a lid or tent with aluminum foil to melt the cheese.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
