Wash the Russet potatoes thoroughly and peel them if desired. Cut each potato into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to create fries.

2. Soaking the Potatoes

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch, resulting in crispier fries.

3. Drying the Fries

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

4. Heating the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the temperature by dropping a small piece of potato into the oil; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.

5. Frying the Potatoes

Carefully add the fries to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry the potatoes for 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
