Cheese Curds

Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Method

Cheese Curds Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese Curds

Start by cutting the white cheddar cheese curds into bite-sized pieces if they are not already. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second bowl, and bread crumbs mixed with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Curds

Take each piece of cheese curd, dredge it in flour, dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the seasoned bread crumbs. Ensure each curd is well-coated and set aside on a baking sheet.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Cheese Curds

Fry the breaded cheese curds in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Buttermilk Ranch Dressing Preparation

  1. 6

    Mix the Dressing

In a medium bowl, combine the buttermilk, mayonnaise, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

  2. 7

    Chill the Dressing

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve

Serve the hot, crispy cheese curds on a platter with a side of the chilled buttermilk ranch dressing for dipping.
