Meatballs

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the meatballs.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated parmesan, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

  3. 3

    Shape Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into 4 large meatballs, approximately 3 inches in diameter.

  4. 4

    Bake Meatballs

Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until cooked through.

Red Sauce

  1. 5

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened. Add 3 tsp of minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are done baking, gently add them to the red sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Garlic Bread

  1. 8

    Prepare Garlic Butter

In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley until well combined.

  2. 9

    Spread on Bread

Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on both halves.

  3. 10

    Bake Garlic Bread

Place the bread under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until golden and toasted. Watch closely to prevent burning.
