Prepare the Glass
Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of a cocktail glass. Dip the rim into a plate of salt to coat it evenly. Set the glass aside.

Mix the Margarita
In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of tequila, 1 oz of fresh lime juice, 1 oz of orange liqueur, and 0.5 oz of simple syrup (if using).

Shake Well
Fill the shaker with ice and shake well for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
Serving

Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice or serve straight up if preferred. Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim.
