Making the Base Syrup

Step 1: Prepare the Syrup
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 2 cups of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves completely.

Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in 1 tsp of citric acid and 2 tbs of natural flavoring of your choice. Allow the syrup to cool completely.
Combining the Drink

In a large pitcher, combine the cooled syrup with 4 cups of sparkling water. Stir gently to mix without losing too much carbonation.

Taste the soda and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more syrup or sparkling water. Mix gently after adjustments.
