Pasta

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add 8 cups of elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Making Cheese Sauce

  1. 2

    Prepare the Roux

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Once melted, add 1 cup of all-purpose flour, whisking continuously for about 2 minutes until the mixture is bubbly and golden.

  2. 3

    Add Milk and Cream

Gradually pour in 4 cups of whole milk and 1 cup of heavy cream while whisking to prevent lumps. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

    Incorporate the Cheese

Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese and 1 cup of shredded Gruyère cheese until fully melted and smooth.

  4. 5

    Season the Sauce

Add 2 tablespoons of truffle oil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix well to combine.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 6

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated.

Preparing the Topping

  1. 7

    Prepare Breadcrumb Topping

In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs, 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, and 1 tablespoon of truffle oil. Mix until the breadcrumbs are well coated.

Baking

  1. 8

    Assemble and Bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture into a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the breadcrumb topping over the mac and cheese. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve Hot

Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve the Truffle Mac & Cheese hot, garnished with additional truffle oil if desired.
