Potato Preparation

Optional Seasonings

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to prepare for baking the fries.

  4. 4

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the water and pat the potatoes dry with a clean kitchen towel.

  5. 5

    Season the Potatoes

In a large bowl, toss the dried potato sticks with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings like garlic powder and paprika.

  6. 6

    Bake the Fries

Spread the seasoned potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

  7. 7

    Add Parmesan (optional)

If using, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the fries during the last 5 minutes of baking for a cheesy finish.

  8. 8

    Serve

Remove the fries from the oven, let them cool for a couple of minutes, and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
