Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Simple Syrup
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine equal parts sugar and water (1:1 ratio). Stir until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let it cool. This will make about 1 cup of simple syrup, which can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a month.
- 2
Muddle the Blueberries
In a cocktail shaker, add 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently mash the blueberries to release their juices. Be careful not to over-muddle; you want the berries to be broken but not completely pulverized.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Add the 2 oz of Cut Above Zero Proof Gin, 1 oz of lime juice, and 0.5 oz of simple syrup to the cocktail shaker with the muddled blueberries.
- 4
Shake the Cocktail
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.
- 5
Strain the Mixture
Using a fine mesh strainer or a cocktail strainer, strain the mixture into a glass filled with fresh ice. This will help remove the solid blueberry bits.
- 6
Garnish
Add a handful of fresh mint leaves and a few whole blueberries on top for garnish. Optionally, you can slap the mint leaves between your hands before adding them to release their aromatic oils.
