Potato Preparation

Method

Frying the Potatoes

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash the Russet potatoes thoroughly under cold water. Peel the potatoes if desired, then cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to create fries.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water, adding 1 tsp of salt. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This step helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Fries

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or a large heavy pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Ensure there’s enough oil to submerge the fries completely.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil, being cautious not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove them using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Seasoning and Garnishing

  1. 6

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Toss the fries gently to ensure even coating.

  2. 7

    Add Parmesan

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the seasoned fries and toss again to incorporate.

  3. 8

    Garnish

Transfer the fries to a serving platter. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side for a fresh touch.
