Ingredients for French Fries

Method

Instructions for Making French Fries

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or a large heavy pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches. Fry them for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and paprika to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the French fries immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
