Espresso
Method
Espresso Preparation
- 1
Grind the Coffee Beans
Using a coffee grinder, grind 18 grams of espresso coffee beans to a fine consistency similar to table salt. This is crucial for optimal extraction.
- 2
Prepare the Espresso Machine
Turn on your espresso machine and allow it to heat up for at least 15 minutes. This ensures that the machine is at the right temperature for brewing.
- 3
Tamp the Coffee Grounds
Place the freshly ground coffee into the portafilter. Use a tamper to press down firmly and evenly on the grounds to create a compact puck. Aim for a pressure of about 30 pounds.
- 4
Brew the Espresso
Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine's group head. Start the brewing process and let the espresso extract for about 25-30 seconds until you have 30-60 ml of espresso, depending on whether you're making a single or double shot.
