Baking Instructions

- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler or in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
- 3
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and egg yolk until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture while whisking continuously. Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, mixing until well combined.
- 5
Incorporate Flour
Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about ¾ full.
- 7
Bake the Cakes
Place the ramekins on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let the cakes sit for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate, tapping gently to release. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
