Method

Prep & Build

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a Collins or highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Add ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz New Amsterdam Gin, 0.75 oz hibiscus syrup, and 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice. Add a handful of ice (about 4–6 large cubes).

  3. 3

    Shake

Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.

  4. 4

    Strain over ice

Discard ice or water from the chilled glass. Fill the glass with fresh cubed ice (about 1 cup). Double-strain the shaken mixture into the glass to remove small ice shards and any pulp.

  5. 5

    Top and adjust

Top the drink with 3 oz chilled lemonade. If you prefer a slightly lighter, fizzy finish, add 1 oz chilled club soda on top. Gently stir once with a bar spoon to combine — 2–3 slow turns so you retain the carbonation.

Finish & Serve

  1. 6

Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim and, if using, float a dried hibiscus flower on top for aroma and visual contrast.

  2. 7

Serve immediately with a straw or a stirrer. Estimated color should be a deep rosy-pink from the hibiscus syrup, balanced by bright citrus from the lemon and the botanical notes of the gin.
