Butter Preparation

Method

Butter Preparation

1

Soften the Butter

Take the unsalted butter out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30-60 minutes until it is soft and spreadable.

Fruit Preserves

2

Prepare the Fruit

Wash the fresh fruit thoroughly. If using strawberries, hull and slice them; for raspberries and blueberries, simply rinse.

3

Cook the Preserves

In a large saucepan, combine the prepared fruit, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Stir well and let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the juices to start releasing.

4

Add Pectin

After the mixture has sat, place the saucepan on medium heat and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add the pectin and stir continuously for about 1-2 minutes until fully dissolved.

5

Simmer and Thicken

Continue to cook the mixture on medium heat for an additional 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens and reaches a gel-like consistency.

6

Jar the Preserves

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the preserves cool slightly. Carefully ladle the hot fruit preserves into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace at the top. Seal the jars with lids.

7

Store the Preserves

Allow the jars to cool completely to room temperature before storing them in the refrigerator. The fruit preserves can be enjoyed for up to 3 weeks when refrigerated.
