Preparing the Burger Patties
- 1
Step 1: Prepare the Black Beans
Drain and rinse the canned black beans. In a large bowl, mash them with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.

Step 2: Mix in Other Ingredients
Add the roasted corn, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, smoky chipotle peppers (with a bit of the adobo sauce), cumin powder, salt, and black pepper to the mashed beans. Stir until well combined.

Step 3: Form the Patties
Gradually mix in the breadcrumbs until the mixture holds together. Shape the mixture into quarter-pound patties (about 1/2 inch thick) and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 4: Chill the Patties
Refrigerate the patties for at least 30 minutes to help them firm up.
